Help us name the alpacas!
First of all, the alpacas’ names are Sisco and McCloud, which we don’t like, so we’re probably going to rename them. We’re looking for two goofy names that go together, like Beavis and Butthead, Click and Clack, or Titi and Caca (funnier if you realize the reference.) Please give me all the suggestions you can think of, no matter how bad you think they are! Ok… So...
heh.
So the alpacas are both white… the brown and white one was the stallion, and is out of our price range. They’ll be boarding at the Double Durango Ranch, which is where we’ll be getting our goats, until their pen is done (hopefully within the week). In other news, we’ll be having a Chinese New Year’s Party on the 9th of February, which will also double as Tyme’s...
alpacas.
So looks like we may be adopting some alpacas (one or two) on Sunday. :D We’ll still be getting goats, but they’ll be coming later, probably in late February. They’re wethers, which means that they’ve been neutered, and they were raised and kept with kids, so they’re very sweet. :D :D :D :D We’d be keeping them as pets and to ward away potential predators. In...
home.
Ok, last entry about the flickr site and the UK. I just realized that many of the photos didn’t make it into the UK set, so if you clicked on just the set and looked at it, you’ve missed about 4/5 of the photos. :P I’ve also just added a lot of descriptions that were missing (though many aren’t all that detailed, anyways), so if you wanted to know where a photo was taken,...
Bitching....
Ok, time for my first travel rant of this trip. So far, the trip has been just incredible. I’m a flexible person, and I can usually roll with the punches, but this hotel has just GONE TOO FAR. A short list: The food, which is “buffet style,” SUCKS. It’s overdone, and some of it is just plain weird. Also, there is only half a table of selection. We sat for an entire meal...
Whitby
We’re now in Whitby, yet another town that I look at and say, “Yeah, I could live here.” The rolling hills and cliffs against the sea, all in the shadows of the incredible ruins of Whitby Abbey, are the perfect canvas for the quaint architecture that covers them. One unexpected twist; this town is full of hippies, Goths, and pagans. Someone finally explained to me that this is due to the fact...
York
So we’re now waiting for our bus to arrive that will take us out to Whitby. The B&B we stayed at last night didn’t have wireless access as they had advertised, due to the awful weather they’ve been experiencing. However, they did have the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in, and we got to catch up on sleep that we had missed the night before. My body was overtired, so the bed was VERY much...
UK 3
Since I last wrote, we’ve had a pretty fabulous time traveling. We packed up half of our bags and left the other half at the hotel in Manchester, and we caught an early morning train to Shrewsbury. When we got there, we asked directions to the Golden Cross, which is where we were staying the night. It is a family run guest house, and also has a gastropub downstairs, and was highly recommended by...
UK 2
Ok! Now that I have two minutes to myself, here’s an update! So our room and hotel are really nice, especially considering the price we’re paying for it. My only complaint is the bed itself, which feels like it was manufactured by Nazis once they were out of a job, but were still looking to torture people. It is apparently a thin sheet of muslin on top of huge springs that make more...
UK 1
Carmen didn’t fall asleep last night until 3:30 in the morning. UGH. Despite that, I got us up with Tyme at 7:30 and we went and had breakfast together before he left for work. Today we had somewhat normal naps, so I’m really hoping that her clock has been reset and we can get a normal night’s rest. I packed her up and explored Chinatown today, which is only a few blocks away. We...
first day of UK trip
We’re here! And we’re dog tired. Thanks to the WORST parents EVAR, we got no sleep on the plane at all. Other than the screaming 1 and 4 year olds, though, our plane ride over was really nice. We were in the section between first class and…. everyone else, and it was damn cushy compared to what I’m used to. Free bar drinks, a lovely dinner, hot towels, Ben and Jerry’s...
Chicks.
Today, Kat and Damian bring home CHICKS!! Young and cute, just the way I likem. With black bones, apparently, too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silkie They’ll be living in our guestroom until it’s warm enough outside for them to go to their new home, which will be built sometime real soon. While we’re gone, 14 more chicks come in via airmail. 7 of them are going to be...
